Organized on January 22, 1968, a total of 18 members from the Kent Fire Department were chartered by the International Association of Fire Fighters. At the time, a mostly rural subburb south of Seattle, the area grew significantly in population as people were moving out of the larger city into bedroom communities. Today, we have over 215 members providing fire, emergency medical, hazardous material, rescue and support services to over 140,000 residents.
