      The Kent Firefighters union Local 1747 participated in this years Relay for Life at French Field on May 29-30. The relay, which raises money for cancer research and prevention, consists of teams walking laps around the track at all times during the relay. This year, the relay lasted from 1800 hours on May 29 until 1100 on the 30th.

      It is with great sadness that the WSCFF, Locals 2088 and 1747 advise you of the Line-of-Duty Death of Captain Mike McCoy. Captain McCoy passed away on Wednesday, April 22, while teaching for the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) in Anniston, Alabama.

      The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society announced on April 26 the total amount raised for the Firefighter Stairclimb was a record $2.2 million. Thank you to all those who donated. Every bit raised goes towards research, patient aid and advocacy. We are proud of Local 1747's team who raised over $22,000!

      The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is a race up the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle. Our Local members will be running up 69 flights of stairs in full fire gear and SCBA. While those participating welcome the challenge, we are doing this to fight blood cancers. All proceeds benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. CLICK HERE for more information.

      Group 3 battles Bowers Street structure fire

      Companies from Group 3 responded to a reported structure fire on September 4th at appoximately 14:45 at the reported address of 210 Salem Street. Arriving companies reported heavy fire in the rear of the structure running its way up the outside of the building and began stretching lines.

      New Firefighters Sworn In Today 9/3/2015

      Five new firefighters were sworn in this morning at city hall.  This marks the first new class of recruits since 2008.  They will now spend the next 14 weeks at Harrisburg Area Community College were they will train and earn their certifications.  Upon successful completion they will join their brothers in the Scranton Fire Department in protecting our city.

In early June Tim was involved in an accident that left him in the hospital for weeks. Tim has significant injuries that will require months of rehabilitation. Doctor’s have estimated that he will be out of work for 12 months.

      A-35 Assisting Bridge Workers

      On August 25th the New London Fire Department received a call for bridge workers that were trappped below the Gold Star Bridge Southbound. Workers were inspecting the bridge from below using a snooper truck when the apparatus failed. Pictured below is FF Kurt Fetzer moving into position to rescue the trapped workers.       Tonight at Fire Station 14, Saint Paul Firefighter/Paramedic Shane Clifton collapsed after a workout. Medic 14, Medic 10 and Squad 2 worked feverishly to resuscitate him. Saint Paul Firefighter/Paramedic Shane Clifton passed at Regions Hospital.

The portions of the Missoula and Ninemile Ranger District within Mineral County as well as the entire Superior RD and Plains-Thompson Falls ranger districts of the Lolo National Forest are under Stage II Fire Restrictions due to continued dry conditions and potential for rapid and dangerous fire growth.
