      Firefighters Cancer Risks are Exposed

      All to often firefighters across the United States and Canada are being diagnosed with cancer. The alarming rate of death amongst firefighters has sounded the alarms in many State Legislatures, as well as Provisional governments. King 5 News, the NBC affiliate in Seattle, documents a couple of cases in Washington State of IAFF Members with cancer.

      60 Years Strong

      For 60 years, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has supported MDA with steadfast drive and uncommon caring. Since 1954, fire fighters have fueled MDA's mission to assist families with life-saving help, fund research to find treatments and cures, advocate for individuals and families affected by muscle disease, and rally communities to fight back.       Angle Lake Easter Egg Hunt

      On April 19, in conjunction with City of SeaTac and Kent Fire Department PR staff, the Kent Fire Fighters hosted the annual event with great success. Our members have helped organize and participate in the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Angle Lake Park in SeaTac for many years. 100's of kids from the local community participated in the event.

      Local 1747 Raises $17,300 for Cancer Research

      This year 12 members of Local 1747 participated in the 2014 Scott Firefighters Stair Climb, held March 9 2014 at the Columbia Tower.  Over 1600 participants from around the world participated.

      With the recent change to daylight savings time, now is a great time to also change every smoke detector battery in your home or apartment. All to often firefighters witness unnecessary death from home fires because the smoke detectors had no functioning battery. Help save your life and those of your family by changing every smoke detector battery now.

      RIP Brother Bayless ~ Local 1264

      Our hearts morn the loss of fellow IAFF 7th District Brother Jeff Bayless, Anchorage Local 1264. May you rest in peace Brother! UPDATE - Memorial is planned for Saturday, March 15, in Anchorage. CLICK HERE for more information.

      Local 1747 Active In Coat For Kids

      For the second time this school year, local firefighters will be donating new, American made coats to children who attend Highline Public Schools. On February 4, 2014, preschool students from throughout Highline Public Schools will come to Kent Fire Department RFA’s Station 46 (formerly the SeaTac Fire Department) to be fitted and receive their new coats.
